AT Students win PFATS NFL Awards

Iowa State Athletic Training Students Samantha Wolfe & Christine Peluso have been working hard all summer. Christine has been interning with the Los Angeles Rams and Samantha has interned with the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL as undergraduate summer athletic training interns. Their hard work has paid off. Christine and Samantha were recently awarded a $1,000 grant for their work as an undergraduate interns through the PFATS/NFL Scholarship program. PFATS (Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society) is a professional association representing the athletic trainers of the National Football League. Their purpose is to insure the highest quality of health care is provided to the NFL.

The PFATS and NFL Foundation Female Scholarship Program began in 2015 offering annual scholarships to female athletic training students interested in pursuing a career in the NFL. The scholarship program is open to undergraduate and graduate female athletic training students who possess a cumulative grade point overage of at least 2.5 on a four-point scale. This program awards 32 scholarships at $1000 per award - totaling $32,000. In addition to receiving a financial grant, each student selected will have the opportunity to work at an NFL summer training camp.
